College of Engineering and Applied SciencesThe College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS) at Stony Brook strongly supports the team's objective and focus on sustainability. Solar power is a rapidly growing field in alternative energy research, and CEAS is very interested in pursuing this because they feel it is a very important issue to the community, the country and the world. The Solar Boat Team is a positive reflection on Stony Brook's efforts in this area. They have enabled and encouraged the team to start again, and rebuild from the bottom up. Without this crucial partnership and coexistence, we wouldn't be here.
Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center
The Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC) is the new organization and center through which Stony Brook will support alternative energy research. The Solar Boat Team fits right into the mission of the AERTC by exploring what we can accomplish without fossil fuels. The Solar Boat Team will create a constructive dialog at the university and in the community about solar energy. We are exactly the type of publicity that the AERTC is looking for, and they are happy to work together with us.
